Docking with Destiny

 

 

 

 

 

FAST FACTS:

  • Standalone operation - no attendant required.

  • Uses standard, off-the-shelf PC hardware.

  • High throughput (3-5 minutes per flight).

  • Beautiful, detailed 3-D scenery including the Earth, International Space Station, and Space Shuttle.

  • Realistic flight dynamics, demonstrating Newton's First and Third Laws of Motion.

  • Picture-in-Picture visual scene combines exterior view of Shuttle and Space Station with docking port camera view for controlling the approach.

SHOW SEQUENCES:

  • Attract Sequence - continuous loop of graphics and audio; calls visitors' attention to the exhibit. Guest moves joystick to start the show. (Note: The customer logo can be integrated into the Attract Sequence graphics.)

  • Mission Briefing - led by computer-based "Pete," this audio-visual briefing presents an overview of the docking mission and instructs the pilot on how to use the Shuttle's docking controls.

  • Flight Sequence - the guest's hands-on docking attempt.

  • Wrap-up Sequence - "Pete" delivers a light-hearted assessment of the results of the docking attempt. The show then returns to the Attract sequence.
