A Call to RMS!

FAST FACTS:

  • Standalone operation - no attendant required.

  • Uses standard, off-the-shelf PC hardware.

  • High throughput (approx. 3 minutes per flight).

  • Beautiful, detailed 3-D scenery including the Earth, International Space Station, RMS (robotic arm), and satellites.

  • Realistic RMS control and satellite contact dynamics, illustrating some of the challenges of interacting with objects in a free-floating environment.

SHOW SEQUENCES:

  • Attract Sequence - continuous loop of graphics and audio; calls visitors' attention to the exhibit. Guest moves joystick to start the show. (Note: The customer logo can be integrated into the Attract Sequence graphics.)

  • Introduction - a short audio-visual overview of the mission scenario

  • Mission Briefings and Flight Sequences - each of the three capture attempts is preceded by a brief set of audio instructions on how to use the Robot Arm controls to move the arm into proper grapple position. The guest then applies the instructions during the hands-on grapple attempt.

  • Wrap-up Sequence - a light-hearted assessment of the results of the grapple attempts, scoring the overall performance as either Gold, Silver, or Bronze. The show then returns to the Attract sequence.
